Acute and short-term oral toxicity of 2-N-ethylaminoethanol in rats.

چکیده
Abstract--Acute oral doses of neutralized 2-N-ethylaminoethanol (EAE) in rats greatly increased gastric secretion, resulting in dehydration and death after 3-4 days. The effect of EAE on gastric secretion did not appear to be due to osmotic effects or to histopathological changes in the gastro-intestinal tract. Short-term administration of neutralized EAE in the drinking water produced evidence of pronounced cumulative toxicity. The 30-day LCso was 1412 4710 ppm. At lower concentrations given over a period of 90 days the main toxic effects of EAE were retardation of growth and degenerative changes in the liver and kidneys. A concentration of 25 ppm EAE in the drinking water for 90 days resulted in minor changes and was considered to be close to the no-effect level.

Background and Purpose: This research aimed to investigate the in vivo acute oral toxicity of aqueous extract of Indigofera tinctoria L. in different doses in Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: Twenty-five male rats were divided into five groups (n=5 for each group). Group I served as the control, and the other four groups received I. tinctoria (100, 250, 500, and 1000mg/kg body weight) for 1...
متن کاملAcute and Subacute Toxicity of Safranal, a Constituent of Saffron, in Mice and Rats
The acute and sub-acute toxicity of safranal were studied in rat and mice within 2 and 21 days after exposure, respectively. For subacute toxicity, changes in weight as well as biochemical, hematological and pathological parameters were studied. The intraperitoneal LD50 values of safranal were 1.48 mL/kg in male mice, 1.88 mL/kg in female mice and 1.50 mL/kg in male rats. Oral LD50 values were ...
